Christian Hackenberg is going to be the most exciting quarterback Southern California has seen since Norman Van Brocklin.

Frightening, isn’t it? Fortunately, this is only fiction. But there’s a lesson here.

You can fire coaches, change quarterbacks, turnover a roster, and even move a team to a different city. But there’s always another Jeff Fisher lurking, waiting to be pulled up through nepotism masquerading as meritocracy by an owner guaranteed to make a billion dollars no matter how much his team stinks.

Friday’s Rise ‘n Grind takes a look at the issue NFL running backs are facing: their lacking contracts compared to other offensive position groups.

So the 10th highest tight end cap hit is the same as the fifth highest among running backs. Part of this is an issue of the running back position being devalued (why spend a good chunk of cap space on it?). Another part is running backs often lose steam quickly and aren’t as good once their rookie contracts expire. A third part is young running backs are quickly adjusting to life in the NFL and dominating when given the chance. That’s true even of late-round draft selections, proving there’s no reason to reach for a running back early on in the draft.

It would have altered the NFL landscape like a bulldozer, and 2007’s wild season would have somehow been even wilder. The Moss-less Raiders would have become an offensive dynasty. The Favre-led jerseys cheap Packers would have won Super Bowl XLII and given the veteran quarterback the closure he needed to retire before falling into a cycle of self-parody. The Patriots would never have to worry about 18-1 references, the Browns would’ve drafted JaMarcus Russell (sorry Browns), and Joe Flacco would never have to wonder https://www.wholesalejerseysof.com/ if he were, in fact, elite.

Favre and Moss eventually got together — but not until 2010 for a 6-10 Vikings team. In 2007, Moss would eventually get shipped to the Patriots for a fourth-round draft pick, then break the NFL record for touchdown receptions in a single season while setting the tone for the most prolific offense in league history. Favre would push Green Bay to the NFC title game but no further, muddying his legacy with three post-Packer seasons and some off-field scandals. Rodgers would take the reins and eventually lead Green Bay to a 2010 NFL championship and perennial contender status.
